CoCo was built in South Africa in 2006. She’s a 40’ Fortuna Island Spirit – low bridge deck, wide hulls, lots of beam, low freeboard – characteristics that won’t win races, but does provide stability and comfort underway.
Accommodations below include 4 cabins, two electric heads, along with two walk-in stand up showers. There are two inboard 27 Hp Diesel engines to move us along when the wind isn’t cooperating. Also, 1000 watts of solar panels provides us with enough juice to charge up the battery bank and run just about everything as long as the Sun shows up. If it’s rainy or overcast for more than a few days while at anchor or sailing, we’ll resort to running our small portable Honda generator for a few hours to top off the battery bank and this keeps us from firing up the engines. We also have a water maker that pumps out about 7 gallons/hour and helps to keep us off the grid. We love our floating home and constantly learning more about her on a daily basis!
